Air Asia X, low-fare airline has decided to move its operation from London Stansted to Gatwick airport from October 24. Reason for selecting Gatwick airport is Air Asia wants to attract more business which busiest Gatwick airport can provide it for sure.
Azran Osman-Rani, chief executive at AirAsia X, said: “Gatwick Airport was chosen as it has shown interest to work with us and understood our motive to grow passenger traffic between our hubs in Asia Pacific and London. Also rise in oil prices has been affecting longer haul routes.
The route will be serviced by the airline’s Airbus A340-300 planes, which have 327 seats, including 18 flat bed seats.
However this low cost fast-growing airline has no plans to expand it’s presence in Europe.
The move will ease chance for passengers from South East Asia to travel to Europe and North America more efficiently, and more affordable.
