East Midlands airport has decided to charge £1 to drop off passengers at its main terminal. A free shuttle will run from the long stay car park to the terminal. But for rapid drop-off zone, it will cost £1 for 10 minutes.
However taxi driver are against this decision of extra charges. But airport managing directors are sticking to their decision saying …..” we are offering a free shuttle to and from the terminal for the long stay car park”. Also the short stay car park has been redesigned into five new zones; rapid drop off, short stay, blue badge holders, car hire and valet parking.
The airport authorities say this new layout will improve the traffic flow and reduce congestion at peak times.
The airport has also installed an automatic number plate recognition system in all of its car parks. This system will recognize cars that have pre-booked spaces when entering and leaving the car parks, thereby saving passengers time when arriving for a flight.
