24-hr air ambulance service begins at Dublin Airport

Ireland’s first  24-hour air ambulance service at Dublin Airport begins yesterday 18th August, 2011.

AeroMedevac who was earlier based at Weston airport will run this service in assistance with Dublin airport authority.

Air ambulance service plans to make around 100 patient transfers within the next year, although service is restricted on flying in daylight hours.

AeroMedevac was contracted to move just weeks after teenager Maeve McGivern failed to get a liver transplant because of a delay in providing her with transportation to take her to a London hospital.
